After experimenting with the Augment app and markers, I discovered the FLARToolkit (Flash Augmented Reality Toolkit, made by Tomhoiko Kayama, aka. Saqoosha) which can allow me to create and use a number of COLLADA models (made using Blender3D) and markers for tracking.
The toolkit uses Adobe Flash to ‘host’ 3D models. Knowledge of ActionScript is required, so this has been another obstacle to overcome in this quite challenging project (along with 3D modelling, UV mapping, etc).
